Fifteen teams representing their respective college and campuses battled on sports in line with the celebration of ICCT Colleges Intramurals 2012 held at Marikina City Sports Park on August 21, 2012.
The massive crowd who attended the whole event was overwhelming. Students from various campuses supported their respective teams. Even if the weather was not that good, the events were consistent of heating up the hearts of the people watching and those conquering the matches.
The semi-finals started with Antipolo Campus defeating ISHTM with a final score of 57-42 favoring the 1st team. Followed by CSIT clobbering Sumulong Stallions which ended up 62-54 making IT students very proud.
While it’s a close fight between San Mateo Wildcats and Binangonan Wolves finishing the fourth quarter with a score of 83-81 making Wildcats the winner. By 60-51, College of Criminology Jaguars demolished College of Business Eagles’ chance for the Finals.
In badminton, Gabriel Provido of CAS snatched the men’s crown by blasting Romeo Dangan of Sumulong Campus, 15-7, 15-8 in the finals. Robert Reyes of Angono Campus took 3rd place by edging Jerome Guibac of TechVoc, 11-5, 17-5, 15-12. CAS 1st place, Sumulong 2nd place and Angono 3rd place.
In the women’s side, Angono Campus’ Laiza Miralles defeated Mia Jane Cagalitan of San Mateo Campus, 15-10, 15-11 to take the crown. Maricel Boniol salvaged 3rd place. Angono 1st place, San Mateo 2nd place and CSIT 3rd place.
In basketball, CSIT Sparrows survived the late scare of fatigue-striken Criminology Jaguars to win, 58-44. Losing semi-finalists were 2011 hoops champs Antipolo Campus (which lost to CSIT, 54-50) and San Mateo Campus (which fell to Criminology Jaguars, 78-73)
In men’s volleyball, CSIT displayed timely hits and accurate service game to beat TechVoc, 25-19, 25-13, 14-25, 25-12. Losing semifinalists were Criminology and 2011 champs, College of Education.
In women’s volleyball, it was not a great ending. College of Business Eagles posted their 2nd straight title in a default win over CSIT. BA were leading the midway through the 3rd set when CSIT players suffered severe cramps, prompting officials to give the win to BA. Play ended at 29-27, 25-14, 12-9. Losing semifinalists were Sumulong Campus and College of Education.
The event was also highlighted by a milestone because of the first ever Human Chess which was conducted as one of the sports event of this year’s intramural. College of Engineering bagged the 1st place over the ISHTM in the Championship.
ICCT Intramural was truly a dynamic way of showcasing the sporting ability, camaraderie and fun of ICCT students. (Vilson Morales and Ricky Manliguis)
