If I’m in the game, I play to win. So as the runner in a track and field, my goal is to be the first to reach the finish line.
Tik..tok..tik..tok..tik..tok.. My clock alarmed at 6am. I am usually waking up too early. But when my teacher asked me “For whom do you rise every morning?” Honestly, I can’t answer this question directly because I am just waking up to do a lot of things. But there is one good answer for this question: Rise because you are the reason why others will rise. Same with, change because you are the reason why others will change.
Sometimes, some things are crossing in my mind; random thoughts about my past, present and future? Well, my past is full of regrets. I am having disappointments that I did not do something I know I can, that I have wasted the chance and now I can’t bring it back. I am so pathetic and still living it in present. My mind is already set that I can’t change my past anymore and all I can do is to accept all the consequences of what I have done. I am just following the flow of life, while my future is just full of plans which I think impossible. I am not expecting to achieve all my dreams believing it will never happen. But I am extremely wrong… We keep on depending on others every day. We keep on thinking that something must not start with us, that we just have to go after other people, that a change will be the one who will carry us. But what if we start changing on our own? What if we spent our time looking for solutions instead of looking for problems? What if we looked inside ourselves before we looked onto others? What if we believe in magic as a replacement for our doubts? As my teacher told me, “Rise because you are the reason why others will rise”.
It enlightened my mind and inspired my soul. It feels like I can be a leader, I can be the change, I can be others inspiration, and it feels so right. Past already passed. It gave me so much to learn and remember. It serves as my motivation to be better on my own. My present is just the same with my future. I have to achieve something every day and live like there’s no more tomorrow.
Every day of my life, I keep on running… No matter how far I will travel, no matter how long it will take, no matter how rough the road may seem… I know that someday, I can reach the finish line and bring home the bacon, not for myself but for others. I have to run faster because I am the reason why others will run too.
“Cynics do not contribute, skeptics do not create, doubters do not achieve.” Bryant Hinckley. Cynicism, skepticism and doubt will never bring us into good places. It will only bring us down. Maybe today can be the day we begin contributing, creating, and achieving? What do you think? (Joyce Chico)
